AMSANT Chair Welcome!

AMSANT is very proud to publish this Administration Manual on the World Wide Web.

Having our own community controlled health services is very important to us and we feel that this resource will assist them to grow and keep strong. It is for community members, health boards and all staff . It will be tool that will make the administration of health services more efficient and professional, enabling services to spend more time on caring for our people.

It is a project that has been in the making for the past 5 years or so. It addresses an important need of our member community controlled health services, especially those that are small and in remote communities. However, it will also be useful to the larger services as it will provide links to the latest information about legislation and other requirements relative to running a health service. It is most relevant to services in the Northern Territory , but the Commonwealth laws and general principles of health service management apply to health services every where – just check your local State requirements.

Anyone can use it. All you need is an internet connection and every aspect of running an Aboriginal community controlled health service is available to you at the click of a mouse. Legislation, regulations, policies and procedures, draft job descriptions downloadable in Word format … and where to get help — they're all here!

And there's plenty of cross-referencing options and links to related external sites, so we think it's a pretty comprehensive package.

AMSANT will update the Manual regularly so you can be confident that the information here is relevant and up-to-date. Check it out!
